The 2017 Chardonnay Califa is scented of warm peaches, apple pie, banana chips and a creamy note with notions of crushed hazelnuts, clover honey, hay and a streak of classy new-oak spice. It’s medium to full-bodied, rounded and satiny in the mouth, with slow-to-blossom flavor layers and a crisp, tensile structure, finishing long and mineral-driven. This has great potential, and I’d love to see how it ages in bottle over the next few years.
