Harvested immediately prior to the rains that flooded Pommard and neighboring villages of the Cote de Beaune, the 2000 Volnay-Fremiets displays herbal aromas and a broad, black cherry and currant-flavored core of fruit. Its finish is compressed, but may well expand with a year or two of cellaring as this wine has impressive depth. Projected maturity: 2004-2008.
