The 2003 Brunello di Montalcino Riserva is a deep, dark effort that flows with the essence of sweet amarena cherries, spices, menthol, leather, licorice and earthiness. This round, generous Brunello offers plenty of length and has enough stuffing to balance the slightly hard tannins that lurk beneath. It is a wine to drink on the young side, before the fruit fades away and exposes the slightly unripe tannins that are typical of the 2003s. Anticipated maturity: 2009-2018.
