With fruit from the La Morra township, the 2010 Barolo Fossati is tight and tonic with lean muscle and masculine appeal. The bouquet focuses in on a few excellent qualities, mainly black currant, licorice and white truffle. These characteristics are presented in a refreshingly frank and matter-of-fact manner that is not easily achieved with the finicky and often mercurial Nebbiolo grape. The 2010 vintage is especially fine-tuned and focused. Of Cascina Adelaide's new releases, Barolo Fossati is the most impressive and engaging. Lingering oak tones will integrate as the wine continues it evolution. Drink: 2016-2028. Cascina Adelaide occupies it own school of Barolo winemaking that embraces modern techniques and a fruit-forward style. This estate shows particular confidence when it comes to the copious use of French oak. This style won't appeal to everyone but Cascina Adelaide boasts an unwavering support base of enthusiast fans. Among the single-vineyard expressions presented this year, the Barolo Fossati is the standout. Fruit comes from La Morra with veins of red and grey clay soils.
