The 1990 Beaune-Les Toussaints exhibits a slightly deeper color, and is a more backward, fuller wine than either the 1990 Beaune-Les Greves or 1990 Beaune-Les Cent Vignes. The tannins are tougher, but behind the wine's structure are copious quantities of chocolatey, black-cherry, spicy fruit. This medium-bodied wine, which needs some time in the cellar, should prove to be long-lived. Anticipated maturity: 1996-2006.
Francoise Choppin bottled her 1990s relatively early, in November, 1991, and I have had the opportunity to taste through them twice. While they were impressive immediately after bottling, they have recently closed up. It should be noted that the Albert Morot red burgundies are among the most reasonably priced. Importer: Robert Kacher Selections, Washington, DC.
