Prieur's 1999 Meursault Perrieres, harvested at 13.6% natural potential alcohol, and vinified as well as aged in 100% new oak barrels, was still fermenting (3.8 grams residual sugar) when tasted. Its floral and oak-scented nose leads to a tangy, light to medium-bodied character. While this wine still revealed considerable CO2, its silky texture, depth, and richness were apparent. Layers of ripe apples and flowers can be found in its lovely personality. Drink it over the next 6 years.
