An outstanding wine produced from 100% Aglianico, aged in small French oak casks, this effort reveals an international style at present, but its southern Italian heritage should emerge with another year of aging. Deep ruby/purple-colored, with medium to full body, this ripe, concentrated 1997 offers abundant quantities of sweet toasty oak intermixed with black fruits and licorice. Deep, ripe, and nicely-layered, with low acidity, a fine mid-section and length, it can be drunk now and over the next 6-7 years.
