Made from a blend of 90% Sangiovese and 10% Merlot, the 2016 Chianti Classico Vallenuova is a soft and enriched Tuscan red that would pair with your favorite pasta dishes topped with wild mushrooms or light meat sauces. The wine is balanced and tight, with plenty of cherry and blackberry aromas. That primary fruit is backed by mid-weight structure and cooling acidity. There is a touch of sour cherry on the close. Some 20,000 bottles were released.

The core black currant note in this red is augmented by earth, almond, tobacco and sanguine accents and backed by firm, dusty tannins. Hangs together nicely, with a lingering fruit component.
