The 2017 Saint-Romain Sous le Chateau derives from the Buissons' sunniest lieu-dit, but its soils are also stonier and poorer in clay than neighboring Sous la Velle. Unfurling in the glass with scents of pear, confit citrus fruit and praline, it's medium to full-bodied, with an enveloping attack that segues into a lively, chalky palate, concluding with a saline, delicately vanillin-inflected finish.
