The 1998 Chateauneuf du Pape Cuvee Grenache reveals an evolved character. Deep ruby-colored with a pink rim, it offers sweet strawberry jam-like notes along with kirsch in its fruit-driven, straightforward, but undeniably beguiling aromas. What's labeled as the A la Gloire de Mon Grand-Pere today, the 1998 Chateauneuf du Pape Cuvee Grenache is 98% Grenache and 2% Cinsault and Clairette that was raised all in foudre and demi-muid. Offering more sweetness and texture than the classic cuvee, yet still fully mature and best drunk up, it's medium to full-bodied, nicely textured and offers classic garrigue, cured meats, roasted herbs and sweet red and black Grenache fruit.
