The 2007 Cotes du Rhone-Villages Vinsobres is a more tannic, structured, earth, masculine, dense ruby/purple-hued effort made from 60% Grenache, lots of Syrah and Mourvedre, and small amounts of Cinsault and Carignan. While it reveals plenty of texture and density, it is forebodingly backward, and will benefit from 6-7 more months of bottle age. It should last for 5-7 years thereafter.
From one of the Southern Rhone’s most northern-most, old Roman towns, Vinsobres (sober wine), Domaine Chaume-Arnaud has produced three interesting as well as value-priced reds.
