From magnum, Arnaud Ente's 2006 Volnay 1er Cru Les Santenots-du-Milieu is drinking very well, bursting from the glass with an exotic bouquet of incense, asphalt, red plums and raspberry, gently framed by new oak. On the palate, the wine is supple, silky and nicely balanced, with succulent acids, melted tannins and good intensity. In this era, Ente vinified his reds with 100% whole cluster, and though his style has evolved, this 2006 must be accounted a great success.
