The 1997 Chardonnay Hyde Vineyard (1,100 cases) offers Mediterranean, orange blossom, exotic, cointreau-like aromatics. Call this wine "Parkerized," as it has gobs of fruit, terrific purity, and a flamboyant, full-bodied personality. Much of the Chardonnay planted in the Hyde Vineyard is the Musque clone, which gives an extra dimension to the wine's fragrance. This offering tips the scales at 14.2% alcohol, but it is very sexy juice. It was bottled unfiltered. Drink it over the next several years.This high quality producer owns no vineyards, but is obviously exploiting some of the finest sources for fruit on California's North Coast.
