Tasted blind at the Burgundy 2011 horizontal tasting in Beaune. The Meursault 1er Cru les Genevrières 2011 from Vincent Girardin has a much more exotic bouquet with ripe mango and mandarin aromas that are well defined, but seem too eager to please, and too commercial compared to others in the flight. The palate is unapologetically rich and exotic. There is a lot of concentration on the powerful Meursault, but it lacks the elegance and detail of the previous two wines (Genverières from Olivier Leflaive and Antoine Jobard.) This needs time to sort itself out.
