The 2017 Chardonnay Zio Tony Ranch aged on the lees in 38% new oak with weekly batonnage. It opens with notes of toasty wood and candle smoke, slowly giving way to golden apple, spiced pears and citrus blossom hints. Light to medium-bodied, it’s giving up much more in the mouth, with expansive, honeyed fruit layers, mouthwatering acidity and an appealing touch of texture on the long finish.
