The 2014 Meursault 1er Cru Genevrières is a debut release from Drouhin. It comes from whole cluster fruit and spends ten months in oak cask, bottled in August 2015. It has good intensity on the nose with clean citrus fruit with tropical tones, the mineral side of the aromatics hidden at first but surfacing with time. The palate is very well balanced with hints of almond infusing the citrus fruit, the oak nicely integrated with hints of grilled almond and walnut furnishing the finish. Perhaps it needs just a little more persistence on the aftertaste, though that may come with bottle age.
