The 2013 Savigny les Beaune 1er Cru Clos des Guettes comes from from two plots, the largest on the top of the plateau and the smaller one (25% of the total) of 45-year-old vines. It has an austere, reserved, rather earthy bouquet that is well defined and sophisticated, the terroir filtering through nicely. The palate is concentrated on the entry with a lovely citric note to kick things off, soon followed by apricot and peachy notes that gather steam toward the viscous finish. Long and tender in the mouth, this will be well worth looking out for next year.
