The 1991 Gravello (a 60% Gaglioppo/40% Cabernet Sauvignon blend, aged in 100% new oak casks for at least a year) is a tannic, backward wine with sweet, earthy, peppery, rustic, black-cherry and cassis fruit, fine density, medium to full body, and considerable power, as well as elevated tannin levels. I am not sure this wine will ever pull itself together, but it is mouthfilling, large-scaled, and impressive from an architectural standpoint. Drink it over the next decade.
