From Italy's so-called "boot", the 1989 Gravello is made from 60% Gaplioppo and 40% Cabernet Sauvignon. It is a rich, spicy, smoky, toasty wine (some new oak cask aging has obviously taken place), with great ripeness, wonderful richness, a full-bodied, layered personality, soft tannin, and chewy fruit in the finish. This wine is capable of 5-8 years of cellaring. It is an intriguing, distinctive wine with broad appeal.
