A blend of 98% Cabernet Sauvignon and 2% Shiraz, the 2009 Cabernet Sauvignon was 100% barrel fermented and aged for 17 months in 70% French and 30% American oak, 50% new. Deep garnet-purple colored, it is intensely scented withwarm black currant, menthol and pencil shavings and hints of violets, bay leaf, yeast extract and black olives. Full bodied with plenty of taut, muscular fruit in the mouth, it has a solid backbone of firm grainy tannins and crisp acid, finishing long and layered with some oak poking through. Still quite tense and youthful, it should drink best 2013 to 2021+.
