The 2021 Lily's Garden Shiraz is from McLaren Vale and smells at first like a lot of good-quality oak, with lashings of toasted coconut, nutmeg, crunchy chicken skin, nutmeg and cedar. In the mouth, however, the fruit washes over any notion of oak and splashes every part of the palate with pure purple flavor and color. This is a concentrated and opulent Shiraz, with all the trappings of McLaren Vale. It is refreshing and very "made," perfect. By the book. 14.5% alcohol, sealed under Diam.

A polished, robust style, with generous juicy cherry and framboise flavors at the core, plus details of fennel, white pepper, dried lavender and fresh earth. The 2020 Lily's Garden Shiraz is from McLaren Vale and shows us all the shaved deli meat, blueberry pie, blackberry and spice we could want form the region. There is hoisin, too. It has a super plush and pillowed fruit profile again. It finishes clean but a bit fat; it doesn’t draw out and linger over the finish the way the Eden Valley does, but it does tail out with chinotto, dutch chocolate and salted licorice. Gorgeous finish.

Delivers maraschino cherry, raspberry coulis, Earl Grey tea and hints of custard on a rich and juicy frame, with accents of dark chocolate, dried herbs, palo santo and tobacco that linger on a long, expressive finish. Supple, rich and harmonious, the 2019 Lily's Garden Shiraz is drinking beautifully already. Hints of eucalyptus and sage add interest to the mixed-berry fruit, while the medium to full-bodied palate is almost creamy in texture, finishing long and luxuriously silky. Drink it over the next 6-8 years.
