The 2010 Sauvignon is beautifully balanced from start to finish. Varietal aromatics meld into juicy apricots and peaches in this expressive, nuanced white. The typical Capriva bouquet is present, but where so many Sauvignons tend towards the green end of the spectrum, Schiopetto’s Sauvignon shows lovely richness and depth in its fruit. The 2008 Sauvignon is one of the more beautiful wines in this lineup. Expressive varietal aromatics meld into a ripe, generous core of fruit, showing exceptional balance. Today the wine comes across as slightly assertive in its aromatics, but that is most likely because of its recent bottling. Sweet, honeyed notes linger on the finish of this fairly fat Sauvignon. Anticipated maturity: 2009-2012. This is a beautiful set of new releases from the Schiopetto family. Schiopetto is based in Capriva, a highly regarded micro-climate for Sauvignon, and this wine captures typical varietal notes in the rich, ripe style of this vintage. Anticipated maturity: 2008-2010.
