Like the Viognier de Rosine, Ogier's 2020 Condrieu la Combe de Malleval aims at balance and freshness rather than richness, with an attractive bouquet of fresh florals, citrus and stone fruit around a core of pineapple. It's labeled at only 12.5% alcohol yet shows ample weight and a silky feel on the palate allied to a lingering, smooth finish.

Flamboyant florals entwine among smoky notes on the complex, compelling nose of Ogier's 2019 Condrieu la Combe de Malleval. Backed by ripe apricot and pineapple notes, this medium to full-bodied wine glides easily across the palate—rich and silky—into a long, refreshingly mineral finish. While this is ripe, it's not overdone, and it retains a certain welcome sense of stoniness without being at all austere.

The 2018 Condrieu la Combe de Malleval is floral, honeyed and enticing on the nose, then delivers a rich, weighty feel on the medium to full-bodied palate, yet it somehow manages to remain fresh and appealing. Drink it over the next 3-4 years.

Ogier claims 2017 was difficult for whites, but the 2017 Condrieu la Combe de Malleval is a worthy successor to the 2016. It's not that floral but offers plenty of ripe apricot and melon aromas and flavors, a plump, medium to full-bodied mouthfeel and a long, spicy finish. Drink it over the next two years.

Weighing in at under 12.5% alcohol, the 2016 Condrieu la Combe de Malleval is a light to medium-bodied Viognier that showcases the floral, spicy side of the grape. It’s crisp, clean and refreshing.
