From a site characterized by deep, clay-rich soils, which Mallard attempts (successfully) to render more elegant, the 2021 Aloxe-Corton Village is medium-bodied, fleshy and textural, evocative of red berries, plums and peonies.

The 2016 Aloxe-Corton Village has a fresh redcurrant and cranberry bouquet that took time to really open up. The palate is fresh and crisp with fine salinity and a touch of spice on the finish that does not outstay its welcome. Enjoy this well-crafted Aloxe-Corton over the next 4 or 5 years.

The 2015 Aloxe-Corton Village has a light red cherry and iodine-tinged bouquet that is nicely defined if missing a little power. The palate is medium-bodied with crisp, chalky tannin. It has good backbone, but needs a little more flesh on the finish, which I think will emerge by the time of bottling.
