The 2020 Aloxe-Corton 1er Cru Les Valozières is firmer and more introverted than the Savigny Serpentières, unwinding in the glass with notions of dark berries, black tea, loamy soil and wintergreen. Medium to full-bodied, rich and structured, with ripe, powdery tannins and lively acids, it will merit some bottle age.

The 2014 Aloxe-Corton 1er Cru Les Valozières has a crisp, undergrowth-tinged raspberry and wild strawberry-scented bouquet with hints of dried rose petal. The palate is medium-bodied, smooth in the mouth with good density; the oak is a little dominant towards the finish and it will require a year or two after bottling to be fully integrated.

The 2013 Aloxe-Corton 1er Cru les Valozières has a ripe orange-zest infused bouquet with fine delineation and focus. The palate is medium-bodied with gentle grip, fine tannins and darker brambly black, tertiary fruit on the finish. Give this a couple of years in bottle.
