Aromas of sweet orchard fruits, citrus oil, nutmeg and struck match introduce Drouhin's 2019 Pouilly-Vinzelles, a medium to full-bodied, rich and nicely concentrated wine that's bright and lively. This will offer charming drinking on release.

The 2016 Pouilly-Vinzelles comes from Chateau de Vinzelles, the vines located at the top of the hill close to the forest. It has a slightly more wax-scented bouquet than the Saint-Véran, with flecks of white chocolate in the background. The palate is fresh and tensile on the entry with notes of sour lemon, lime and a dash of ginger, good body with quite a long finish. Drink over the next 4 to 5 years.

The 2015 Pouilly-Vinzelles comes from the Chateau de Vinzelles, a 17-hectare property from which Drouhin has bought 12-hectares of fruit since 2010 (previously, the fruit was sold to the local cooperative). Two-thirds is matured in stainless steel and the rest in demi-muids for 12 months. It has a lovely bouquet with hints of lemon curd and white flowers, just a faint puff of chalk dust. The palate is well balanced with a fine line of acidity, not a complex Maconnais, yet full of tension with a touch of grass clipping on the finish. Enjoy this well-made wine over the next 3-5 years.
