Aromas of minty green orchard fruit, citrus pith and hazelnuts introduce the 2017 Macon-Verzé, a medium-bodied, bright and refreshing wine with a delicately satiny attack, a pretty core of fruit and a saline finish. It's an understated Macon that was picked on the early side to emphasize freshness.

The 2016 Macon-Verzé offers up notes of green orchard fruit, pastry cream, dried white flowers and honeycomb, framed by subtle reduction that dissipates in the glass. On the palate, the wine is medium-bodied, bright and tangy, with a delicately glossy attack, moderate depth at the core and a pure, saline finish. It doesn't match the concentration of the 2015 rendition, but it's both more vibrant and more approachable. This Macon-Verzé was vinified and matured in stainless steel for some 15 months before bottling under Diam.

The 2014 Macon-Verzé was served from magnum, a wine that I do not often taste and I will have to put that right since this has a wonderful, gun flint bouquet that you would immediately nail as Leflaive. The palate is well balanced with crisp acidity, nice weight in the mouth with hints of Granny Smith Apple and subtle earthy scents towards the finish. If you want a perfect introduction to the winemaking style of the domaine, I would come directly here. Tasted December 2016.
