Chapoutier's 2018 Chateauneuf du Pape Pie VI offers distinctive aromas of peppermint, saddle leather and black olives. There's a healthy proportion of Syrah in this cuvée, and it seems to show. Medium to full-bodied, this is fairly structured and tannic, a bit more streamlined than most CdPs, but with a lingering finish laced with hints of meat, leather and peppery spice.

Drawn from three lieux-dits, the 2017 Chateauneuf du Pape Pie VI is a blend of 65% Grenache and 35% Syrah. Rich and concentrated, it marries dark, boysenberry fruit with hints of chocolate, leather and garrigue. It's full-bodied, with velvety tannins and a long, grainy finish.

Full-bodied, velvety and dense, the 2016 Chateauneuf du Pape Excellence Pie VI is a blend of 60% Syrah and 40% Grenache. Plummy and chocolaty, it's almost fudge-like and will likely mature quite quickly.
