A touch behind other recent vintages, the 2020 Crozes Hermitage is blended from 10 to 12 parcels of vines, mainly around the family's base of Pont de l'Isère. It features lovely notions of purple raspberries and hints of spice on the nose, while the medium to full-bodied palate is supple, with a lingering, elegant finish. It should be ready to drink on release and continue to drink well for another 4-5 years.

Peppery and fresh, with notes of cherries and raspberries, Combier's 2018 Crozes Hermitage is a super example of why this wine should be on your list of go-to Northern Rh?ne values. Medium to full-bodied, supple and smooth on the palate, with echoes of wet stone on the lingering finish, it's just a fruit-filled joy to drink, and it should hold up for at least another 6-7 years.

Combier's main bottling is a blend of three different terroirs, aged a year in barrels. The 2017 Crozes Hermitage just hints at baking spices on the nose, allowing perfumed notes of violets, raspberries and blueberries to come through. It's full-bodied and creamy in texture, lush and delectable on the finish. Why can't all Crozes be this good?

A classic blend of three parts of the appellation, the 2016 Crozes Hermitage is a terrific success. Peppery, herbal and floral, it offers plenty of complexity on the nose, followed by a silky, medium-bodied palate and a long, pretty finish of tea leaves and red berries. Approachable now, it should drink well for 4-5 years.

The only 2015 presented, the 2015 Crozes Hermitage Laurent Combier comes from the region known as the Pont de l’Isere and was raised all in concrete tanks. Leafy herbs, black pepper, plums and hints of damp earth all flow from this forward, supple, nicely fruited beauty that has considerable charm and elegance.
