Showing a dark ruby core with purple highlights, the 2017 Cuvee Arlette is a blend of 67% Merlot, 16% Cabernet Franc, 8% Malbec and 8% Cabernet Sauvignon. The nose is juicy with elements of ripe plum, bitter dark chocolate and dark cherry skin. Medium to full-bodied, the wine is expressive, balanced and delightful with fine-grained tannins that lift the expression across the mid-palate. Ending with a firm but juicy finish, the wine continues to evolve with persistence in the mouth. Nicely done.

A blend of 57.5% Merlot, 25% Cabernet Franc, 17% Malbec and 0.5% Petit Verdot, the 2015 Cuvee Arlette opens with a dense, dark and spiced core of fruit on the nose, with a note of minerality and soft herbal aromas. The full-bodied palate shows more in terms of bitter dark chocolate with a core of dark, dusty blackberries, black plum and dark cherry before moving to a fine tannic structure that is well-balanced and shows a well-made wine. The wine lingers on with dusty, dark chocolate-covered blackberry expression. 500 cases produced.

Black currants, raspberries, spice and flowers all define the 2013 Cuvee Arlette from Lauren Ashton Cellars, and it has classic Bordeaux wild herbs and earth notes that develop with time in the glass. Medium to full-bodied, it's charming and elegant on the palate, yet falls away a touch too fast. Still, it's an impeccably made, delicious red that's going to shine for 7-8 years.

A beautiful blend of 47% Merlot, 35% Cabernet Franc and the rest Cabernet Sauvignon, the 2012 Cuvee Arlette is a classically styled, full-bodied, concentrated and age-worthy effort that offers ample dark fruits, tobacco, cedar and hints of chocolate. It doesn’t skimp on fruit, it has sweet tannin, and will have 15-20 years of overall longevity.

Pretty, up-front and already approachable, the 2011 Cuvee Arlette is made from 49% Merlot, 29% Cabernet Franc 20% Cabernet Sauvignon and the balance Petit Verdot. Aged 20 months in 40% new French oak, it offers up loads of red plums, licorice, toast and hints of chocolate to go with a medium-bodied, rounded and delicious profile on the palate. It lacks the back-end depth to make it a long term ager, but will dish up plenty of pleasure over the coming 4 to 5 years.
