The light gold-colored 2008 Viognier Genesis gives up aromas of white peach and apricot. Dry on the palate with good volume and savory flavors, it becomes a bit lean in the finish. Drink this tasty effort over the next 1-2 years. The Hogue Cellars appears to be in a renaissance of sorts. The last time I tasted their wines I was unable to recommend any of them; times have obviously changed. It is Washington’s third largest producer (600,000 cases) and the vineyards (but not the winery) are still owned by the Hogue family.www.hoguecellars.com

A lovely bottle, with rich aromas of lemon/lime and beeswax. Flavors combine ripe citrus, orange peel and English Breakfast tea. Balanced and full, with 12% Chardonnay fleshing out the midpalate.——P.G.(5/1/2010)—— 89
