The 2021 Touriga Nacional was aged for 12 months in second-use French oak. It comes in at 14.1% alcohol. Fresh and friendly, this is an elegant Touriga with some understatement. It handles the wood well now, and it seems lifted and lively. It's not a particularly rich or deep wine, but its graceful presentation will make it a pleasure to drink even today, when it is very young. There is at least a little firmness on the finish. It may be able to improve and develop a bit more, but don't expect it to turn into anything very special. It is a nice value for a friendly Touriga that still is a little distinguished.

The 2020 Touriga Nacional was aged for 12 months in 40% new French oak. It comes in at 14.9% alcohol. A very ripe Touriga, this leans well to the fruit-forward side of the ledger, but the backbone makes it a little more impressive. It is hard to ignore the freshness, the caressing texture or the delicious fruit, but most of all this is about the big fruit. It's not always the most classic Touriga, but it sure tastes great on its own terms.

The 2019 Touriga Nacional was aged for 12 months in 40% new French oak. It comes in at 14.1% alcohol. This is a nice value point in the lineup, perhaps the best, although it depends on how you look at it. (The Reserva, for instance, offers a lot more distinction for another $10.) It's fresh, fruity and delightful. It's not meant to be powerful or complex, but it certainly has some structure, and it has just enough concentration to seem moderately substantial in the mouth. Plus, it tastes great. That's always a good thing. Drink this just a few degrees cooler than normal, and it may be a big hit this summer, but it won't die too young. In fact, it should hold well for several years. It's hard to lean up on the score of this wine too much because this moment already seems pretty much like its peak moment, but it sure does the job today.

The 2018 Touriga Nacional was aged for 11 months in 40% new French oak. It comes in at 14.2% alcohol. Elegant, well structured, concentrated and exuberant at the same time, this is a lot of wine for the price point. There might be a high-toned hint in the background, but nothing much. It's a bit tight right now but approachable. It should age reasonably well for several years, maybe more. It will be interesting to see if it turns into anything more.

The 2017 Touriga Nacional was aged for nine months in 40% new French oak. It comes in at 14% alcohol. Wonderfully fresh, this is reasonable in mid-palate concentration, certainly for its level, and it has ripe tannins and good acidity for support. Beautifully constructed, and rather fruit-forward, this rises above its level. It is still one to drink young, which won't be a problem since the delicious fruit is in control. It's never jammy, though, because it is very fresh. I liked this a lot as a value for everyday drinking. Drink it young for best results.
