The 2015 Touriga Nacional was aged for nine months in 60% new French oak. It comes in at 14.5% alcohol. This has some considerable power for the level and fine concentration, but it seems like a fairly chunky and stolid Touriga that lacks any of the finesse we see in the Vale da Mata wines this issue (granting that they are very different regions). Showing a hint of alcohol underneath, this never gets to a burn, but you can feel the impact at times. This does many things well, but it needs to pull itself together and show a bit more harmony, if it can. It's still very young. In fairness, the price point is rather low and it is a lot of wine for the price in power and concentration. Pair it with some rich foods.
