This shows aromas of ripe red berries with red spices, tree bark and mushroom undertones. Medium- to full-bodied, polished and nicely integrated with velvety tannins. Has a juicy red berry backbone and hints of orange peel at the end. Already attractive but better after 2025.

Maturing nicely, with mellowing cherry, rose, anise, iron and just a hint of truffle, yet remains vibrant and taut, a reflection of the stellar 2016 vintage. Still firm, linear and complex, this is integrating nicely and persists on the multidimensional finish. Some 6,000 bottles were put aside for a late release of one of the best vintages in recent memory. The 2010 Barolo Riserva is a savory and sophisticated expression with dried cherry, smoke, tar and crushed granite that lift gently from the bouquet. The wine reveals itself with slow but mounting intensity as it takes on more air in the glass. It has been aged in large oak casks for 48 months and has emerged intense, balanced and expressive as a result. Anise seed and licorice appear on the close.

A ripe, intense version, with plum, black cherry, tar, roasted almond, leather and soy aromas and flavors, backed by muscular tannins. Balsamic notes of wild rosemary and juniper add interest. Shows a hint of oxidation, yet this remains fresh and long. A singular Barolo. Still youthful, with a long life ahead.
