With fruit from La Morra, the E. Molino 2017 Barolo Bricco Rocca offers dark fruit aromas with licorice, tarry smoke, dried rose and iron ore. After the success of the 2016 vintage, this edition reveals a more accessible and open personality that is in line with the warmer growing season. The wine is posed for near and medium-term drinking.

The E. Molino 2016 Barolo Bricco Rocca is a new discovery for me. It has lots of cherry and punchy fruit and a garnet appearance in the glass that portends more to come. This is a very open Barolo, showing varietal character with spice, red earth and barbecue smoke. It has developed a savory side and a sweet side, too, which gives this expression the balance you crave. It is nicely tart, thin and smooth all at the same time. Here you feel the power of this classic 2016 vintage. 900 bottles were released.
