The 2016 Beaune 1er Cru Champs Pimont Blanc is 100% matured in foudres. It has another slightly resinous but clean and fresh bouquet with pleasant grilled walnut scents emerging with time. The palate is well balanced with a fine line of acidity, not a complex Beaune but there is an appealing roundness on the tropical-tinged finish. Drink over the next six years.

The 2015 Beaune 1er Cru Champs Pimont Blanc felt taciturn on the nose despite rigorous coaxing. The palate is more animated than the aromatics with attractive pear drop and peachy notes. There is a decent thread of acidity here, but it cuts away a little short on the finish.

The 2002 Beaune Champs Pimont sports a nose of minerals and apples. This tightly wound, focused, light to medium-bodied wine is packed with minerals. It should be consumed over the next 2-3 years.

No tasting note given. The score, noted on a range and in parentheses, indicates that the wine was tasted from barrel. I was extremely impressed with Prieur's three top wines, the Meursault Perrieres, Corton-Charlemagne, and Montrachet, which are at a level only attained by the very best Burgundian estates.
