From 80-year-old vines facing south-southwest, the 2019 Condrieu Chery takes all the laudable aspects of the stellar 2018 and turns the volume up to 11. Flowers, crushed stone, dried spices and ripe apricots all show up on the nose and full-bodied, fleshy palate. Rich and textural without ever seeming overdone or heavy, it's a magnificent effort that should drink well for another 5 years or so.

Another terrific Condrieu from one of the appellation's acknowledged masters, the 2018 Condrieu Chery offers up floral scents alongside hints of crushed stone, a dusting of dried spices, and ripe apricot and melon notes. It's full-bodied and fleshy on the palate yet only weighs in at 14% alcohol. Long, refreshing and harmonious from start to finish, it's just a pleasure to drink, ending on gentle, lingering notes of stone dust.

Coming largely from 80-year-old vines in the Coteau du Chery, Perret's 2016 Condrieu Chery is a tremendous effort. The decomposed granite soils seem to impart more tension into the wine, so although this medium to full-bodied wine is rich and fruity, it's also lively, spicy and fresh. Floral and apricot aromas lead the way, followed by a silky-textured palate that never seems heavy and a nearly never-ending finish. Just wow.

Not yet bottled, the blockbuster-styled 2015 Condrieu Coteau du Chéry is a big, full-bore beauty that doesn’t pull any punches with its decadent pineapple, tangerine, orange blossom, powdered rock and rose garden aromas and flavors. However, like all great wines, it stays light and lively on the palate, with beautiful freshness.
