Delas's 2019 Chateauneuf du Pape Haute Pierre is a blend of Grenache and Syrah vinified in concrete and aged in foudre. Remarkably, I still detected hints of cedar on the nose, joined by notes of leather, clove and raspberries. It's full-bodied and reasonably supple, except for some woody tannins. While it came across as a bit disjointed, in a few years this should come together nicely.

Sporting slightly exaggerated, almost kirsch-like aromas, the 2018 Chateauneuf du Pape Haute Pierre comes out of the bottle in a burst of fruit. Subtle herbal notes emerge with air, lending just enough aromatic complexity to keep it interesting, while the medium to full-bodied palate is silky and taut, showing a fine tension between ripeness and acidity.

While this bottling isn't one of this house's particular strengths, the 2017 Chateauneuf du Pape Haute Pierre is a silky, very drinkable example of the appellation, marrying black cherries with ripe tannins. It's full-bodied and a bit chunky in feel, a satisfying, hearty red to drink over the next 6-7 years.

Full-bodied and rich, the 2016 Chateauneuf du Pape Haute Pierre combines red and black fruits with hints of leather, allspice and clove to create a complex, seamless whole. It's not flashy, oversized or oaky, just a solid, foudre-aged blend of 90% Grenache and 10% Syrah that harkens back to healthy traditions.

The star of Delas Frères' Southern Rh?ne portfolio is the company's 2015 Chateauneuf du Pape Haute Pierre. It follows up pretty scents of raspberries and peaches with ample weight, rich tannins and a creamy mid-palate. Red fruit and spice notes build in intensity on the long, firm finish.
