Much like the 2018 version, the 2019 Chateauneuf du Pape is a plushly textured, easy-drinking wine. Hints of garrigue and briary notes accent red raspberries on the nose, while the full-bodied palate is silky and expansive, easing into a lengthy finish. It's 78% Grenache, 11% Syrah, 8% Mourvèdre and 3% Cinsault, aged mostly in foudre and tank.

Decadently ripe, the 2018 Chateauneuf du Pape combines hints of garrigue, raspberries, black cherries and dark chocolate on the nose. In the mouth, it's full-bodied, plush and creamy textured without coming across as heavy, finishing supple and long. While some may find it over the top, for me, it retains a sense of balance in the tension between the sense of ripeness and its delicate herbal nuances. It won't be terribly long-lived but should drink at its delicious best over the next 6–8 years.

A blend of 70% Grenache, 12% each Mourvèdre and Syrah, with 6% other permitted varieties, the 2017 Chateauneuf du Pape slots in somewhere between the open, generous 2016 and the firmly tannic 2015 in style. Hints of tar and rubber appear on the nose, followed by notes of mint and red berries. It's full-bodied and chewy, with a bit of hard tannin on the finish.

In marked contrast to the tannic 2015, the 2016 Chateauneuf du Pape is a forward, charming version of this cuvée, boasting delicate floral aromas and ripe cherry and stone fruit flavors. Full-bodied and creamy in texture, it shows no hard edges but delivers plenty of charm and finesse for drinking over the next 10-12 years. It's a classic blend of 65% Grenache, 20% Mourvèdre and 15% Syrah.

A concentrated, tannic example of 2015 Chateauneuf du Pape, this wine blends 80% Grenache, 10% Syrah, 6% Mourvèdre and 4% others. The aromas and flavors call to mind mocha and cooked/dried fruit like figs and dates, easing into a long, warm finish.
