Still unreleased, the 2015 Airavata Syrah is a blend of 70% Gimblett Gravels fruit with 30% Te Awanga. It's co-fermented with 1% Viognier and aged two years in 50% new oak. One-third was fermented as whole clusters. All that adds up to a wine of dark-fruited ripeness and complexity. Plum and blueberry notes pick up hints of cracked pepper and violets, while the medium to full-bodied palate is dense and concentrated yet silky, finishing with hints of vanilla and lingering richness.
