The 1997 Chardonnay Sonoma Coast displays a smoky, leesy, orange peel, citrusy nose as well as flavors, a terrific texture, rich, pure fruit, full body, plenty of glycerin and alcohol (14.2%), and a lusty, heady finish with mouth-cleansing, tangy acidity. This wine (120 cases) went through full malolactic fermentation, and was aged in French oak, of which 80% was new, an was bottled unfiltered. It should continue to drink well for 3-4 years.
