A little more austere at first, the 2014 Barbaresco offers wild berry fruit with white cherry. You can feel the ripeness of the clusters. The winemaking team at Ceretto says that they were pleasantly surprised by the final results in 2014—a vintage that had growers on edge until the very last weeks of the season. Perhaps the mouthfeel is a touch leaner this year. The bouquet opens to smoke, tar and licorice with dark fruit at its core.

Ripe and round, this red displays rich cherry, menthol, earth, tar and mineral notes. Fresh and taut on the finish, which lingers with a tobacco-tinged aftertaste. Best from 2020 through 2033. 1,410 cases made, 500 cases imported.??–BS??Region: Italy / Piedmont / Barbaresco Select to Add
