Medium to dark ruby-colored and sporting a nose of waxy black cherries, the 2003 Auxey-Duresses 1er Cru (red) is dense and medium-bodied. Loads of sweet blackberries, cassis liqueur, tar, and licorice can be found in this expressive, well-structured wine’s character. Its firm, tannin-packed finish will require some patience.
