The estate’s 2006 Mormoreto is 60% Cabernet Sauvignon, 22% Merlot, 15% Cabernet Franc and 3% Petit Verdot that spent 24 months in French oak barrels. It is a big, intense offering bursting with dark, black fruit to a point that suggests over-extraction, particularly in the astringent tannins that mark the finish. Anticipated maturity: 2010-2016.
Castello di Nipozzano is the Chianti Rufina estate of the Frescobaldi family.
