The 2008 Sagrantino di Montefalco is a big, rustic wine loaded with dark red cherries, smoke, licorice and tar. There is good intensity in the fruit, but the tannins remain a bit rough around the edges. Lungarotti’s wines from Montefalco have improved over the last few years, but remain works in progress. Anticipated maturity: 2013-2018.
Lungarotti is one of Umbria’s most historic wineries. The strengths in this range remain the classics, while the newer additions to the lineup continue to show improvement.
