Produced from 80-85 year-old vines, the 2002 Clos St.-Denis completed its malolactic fermentation in late October, 13 months after harvest. Having never been racked, it was suffering from reduction when tasted in February. Nevertheless, this effort’s mocha-tinged black cherry aromas lead to a deep, plush core of black fruit paste. Deep, concentrated and long, it is impressively endowed. Projected maturity: 2009-2018.
