The 2005 Roero Bric Valdiana (Nebbiolo) sparkles on the palate with layers of gorgeous, perfumed fruit. There is superb density and depth to this elegant Nebbiolo. The tannins soften with air, making it a delicious and tasty wine to enjoy now and over the next few years. Anticipated maturity: 2008-2013.
Giovanni Almondo is a reference-point producer for Arneis, Barbera and Roero. I am amazed this producer isn’t better known considering the high quality of the wines here. Readers looking for value-priced wines from Almondo may want to take a look at Issue 178.
