The purple-colored 2005 Castell de Falset is composed of 50% Carinena, 25% Garnacha, and 25% Cabernet Sauvignon aged for 12 months in French oak. The alluring nose offers up wood smoke, mineral, underbrush, blueberry, and black cherry. This leads to a medium to full-bodied, nicely balanced wine with serious depth, loads of spicy, savory fruit, and a masculine personality. This large-scaled effort will evolve for another 4-6 years and offer prime drinking from 2013 to 2025.
