The 2004 Castell de Falset is composed of 50% Carinena, 25% Garnacha, and 25% Cabernet Sauvignon aged for 12 months in French oak. Purple-colored, it has a superb bouquet, of cedar, mineral, scorched earth, pencil lead, black cherry, and blackberry. This leads to an intensely flavored, sweetly-fruited, plush wine with incipient complexity and elegance. It conceals enough silky tannin to support 3-5 years of further cellaring and will be at its best from 2012 to 2025.
