I adored the forward, almost explosive combination of toasty new oak and opulent red and black fruits of the 1990 Volnay-Santenots. This is a dramatic, almost decadently rich wine. While it lacks structure and grip, it does offer juicy Pinot Noir fruit that seems to gush from the glass. The acidity is low, and the tannin is obscured by the glycerin, fruit, and alcohol.
